Feedback and Development
How we do performance and growth
We believe that feedback is a gift. It's how we learn, how we grow, and how we get better at what we do. We are committed to creating a culture of feedback, where everyone feels comfortable giving and receiving feedback.
Our Approach
We don't do traditional performance reviews. We believe that feedback should be a continuous, ongoing conversation, not a once-a-year event.
We have a few simple practices to help us give and receive feedback:
- 1-on-1s: A monthly meeting between each team member and their manager. This is a time to talk about what's going well, what's not going well, and how we can support you. They are not time restricted but are typically about an hour.
- Daily Standups: A 15-minute meeting every day to talk about our work for the day and schedule in meetings.
- Sprint Retrospectives: We have sprint retrospectives where we can get in-person feedback from each other on what we have been working on.
- Workshops: We have scheduled workshop time where we can get in-person feedback from each other on what we have been working on.
Development Planning
Everyone should have an annual plan they can share and revisit over the year. It's important to understand what we are trying to improve and how we can support each other in growing.
